Nomaden und Sesshafte
Issued on behalf of the SFB by Jörg Gertel, Stefan leather, Jürgen Paul and Bernhard Streck nomadic and sedentary life forms coexist in much of the world, particularly in the Old World drying belt, for several thousand years. The exploration of their interaction should be documented in the series Nomads and Sedentary. Only since relatively few years, the insight has gained validity, that nomadism deserves to be taken as part of cross-ecological, economic, political and cultural systems in the view, because forms of contact with the world of sedentary have dominated for long periods with historical civilizations and today, among other conditions, action unfold. Exchange and conflict between nomads and settled, as well as processes of adaptation and differentiation have had an impact on other areas of life. Economy and military, political and social systems, language and art, imaginary worlds and identity constructions give to recognize this. With the perception of diversity and potency of this interaction a research perspective is applied, which determines the tasks of the 2001 einrichteten Collaborative Research Centre "Difference and Integration interaction between nomadic and settled forms of life in the civilizations of the Old World". The interdisciplinary framework of the Collaborative Research Centre allows the involvement of several disciplines such as archeology and history, literature and Ethnology, Geography and Agricultural Economics; their interaction promises returns that open up a variety of perspectives and knowledge areas.
