Monographs, dissertations and other material-rich publications, which have arisen in the context of the archaeological institute of the University of Cologne or are closely connected with the research foci of the institute, will appear in the series of Cologne writings on archeology. The Digital Archeology Laboratory and its image database ARACHNE offers a unique opportunity to comprehensively document and publish the archaeological material in a contemporary way. It is an example of well-illustrated, well-readable scientific books in which the course of argument and the results of the archaeological investigations are presented in book form, but the complete material basis is made available online in the database ARACHNE.
