Real lexicon of the Germanic antiquity. The real lexicon of the Germanic antiquity has the name of its founder, the Anglist and naturalist Johannes Hoops. Between 1972 and 2008 appeared in the second, completely revised edition of 35 volumes and two register volumes. Designed as a handbook, the Hoops is in the tradition of extensive encyclopaedias: The aim is to present the entire knowledge of Germanic antiquity comprehensive and critical. His interdisciplinary approach includes results from the fields of art history, legal history, folklore and religious studies.
