ISSN 2509-873X

In the series Hamburg Studies on Pre-Modern Societies and Cultures, there are humanities scholars, among others. Exploring the pre-modern societies & Ethiopistics, Ancient History, Byzantine Studies, Islamic Studies, Jewish Studies, Theology and Church History, Classical Archeology, Classical and Neo-Latin Philology, Medieval History united in their entirety to a common publication platform. Chronologically, time is covered by Greek-Roman antiquity until just before the Reformation. Thematically, the series emphasizes two postulates: On the one hand, we emphasize the continuities between antiquity and the Middle Ages and early modern times, from the Atlantic to the Hindu Kush, which we collectively regard as premodern, and, secondly, pursue a decidedly cultural-historical one Approach to the frame topic Meaningful elements of the premodern, which should serve as a link between the disciplines. In the broadest sense, it is about the elicitation of meaningful constituents in the cultures treated by our fam- izens.
